Take that Kate

In response to the horrible Kate Spade Scarf, I came up with this

Chunky Knit Scarf

It's a Chunky, 2x1 rib scarf. The only problem being that I spun the yarn myself and seem to keep underestimating how much I will need. The Yarn is a mix of hand dyed blue faced leicester carded with bamboo and plyed with ripped hand dyed silk left over from my college days. It actually doesn't look that good in skein form but I am loving how it looks knits up

Chunky Knit Scarf- detail

It's currently only long enough to wrap around my neck, and I just ran out of that color silk. So it will either end up with some asymmetrical "stripes" or I will make a chunk knit neck warmer.

Either way, still WAY cooler than that $95 acrylic mess.

In which I am actually productive

Much to my own surprise, I have gotten my shit stuff together and have finally started to update my Etsy Site with some of my Handspun.

I haven’t had much time to try to rehab the antique wheel, so everything was spun very slowly, with very little cursing (well very little for me) on Lucille. Techniques were pulled a little from the Pluckyfluff book, and a little from the amazing Spinning Designer Yarns book. The names were all me, and probably my favorite part.

PS Is anyone else pretending that Christmas just isn’t going to happen this year?

Like a record baby...

I just started a spinning class and after my second one, I think I am hooked. Here is the very bulky fruits of my labor.

These are my first attempts, the one on the left is from learning to card the wool.

This is my first real skein of yarn. Its merino silver in raspberry and lilac with some silver alpaca blended in.

I am pretty pleased, and planning a trip this afternoon to buy my own carders and more fiber. I have a bad feeling there is going to be lots of spinning and not so much knitting in the next few weeks.
